    Tummy Tuck

If you want a tight and toned midsection after having children or after losing a lot of weight, diet and exercise may not be enough. Tummy tuck surgery is the only procedure that can address the issue of excess skin and fat around the abdomen. You can finally have that sculpted midsection with a procedure that eliminates sagging skin, tightens separated abdominal muscles, and eliminates excess fat permanently.

Board certified (ABPS) plastic surgeons Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin at the Virginia Plastic Surgery Institute and Modern Body Contouring and Laser Center (MBody), with locations in Richmond, VA and Tysons Corner, VA, perform tummy tuck surgery at their practice. They have helped countless patients achieve a tighter, toned, and sculpted midsection using the latest liposuction and skin tightening techniques. This procedure can be combined with J-Plasma and other skin tightening procedures to create an even more contoured and defined look.

Tummy tuck surgery is designed to reposition the muscle and skin to create a more contoured look. Women who have undergone multiple pregnancies or men and women who have lost a lot of weight are often left with excess skin around the abdomen. Some also have excess fat and want a sleeker, more sculpted-looking midsection.

Tummy tuck surgery can include liposuction to remove excess fat. It can create a more defined waistline and contours all along the midsection. Muscles that have been stretched during pregnancy or from extreme weight gain can be restored. Excess skin can be removed and repositioned to create a streamlined silhouette.

An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery, is usually performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. The surgery can take between 2 and 5 hours and involves making a long horizontal incision between the pubic hairline and belly button. This is the access point for Dr. Sundin to reach the entire length of the abdominal wall.

Dr. Sundin can then tighten any weakened abdominal muscles, remove excess skin, and reposition the tissue and skin to create a more defined waistline. He may perform liposuction to remove excess fat around the abdomen and then re-drape the skin over the abdomen to create a smooth, contoured appearance.

You will need to wear a compression garment for a few weeks after surgery and may be fitted with drains to remove excess fluid. Most patients can stand upright about a week or two after surgery. They typically return to work two to four weeks after surgery. Dr. Sundin will provide specific post-op instructions so you can heal from the procedure and most patients see results once the swelling has subsided.
