Dr. Reps B. Sundin
Dr. Reps Barnes Sundin specializes in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is among the few plastic surgeons with formal fellowship training in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Sundin is an expert in all areas of cosmetic surgery, with a special interest in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, breast surgery, and body contouring.
Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Dr. Sundin is a native of Virginia. He graduated from the Norfolk Academy with Honors following which he attended Georgetown University where he was elected into the honor society, Phi Beta Kappa.
Education and Training
Dr. Sundin graduated from Georgetown University Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Biology. At Georgetown, Dr. Sundin conducted many years of cellular research with an emphasis on breast cancer at the Lombardi Cancer Center.
Subsequently, he went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine with an academic scholarship. This institution consistently ranks as one of the best hospitals in the US.
In medical school, Dr. Reps Sundin was elected to be the vice president of the renowned medical school honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Furthermore, he received an NIH fellowship during medical school and pursued research in plastic surgery.
Subsequently, Dr. Reps Sundin went on to pursue general surgical training at the University of Kentucky. Here, he achieved the highest score in his class on the General Surgery Inservice exam.
After that, he continued his training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was among the few residents in the US to be chosen to pursue an integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency.
Dr. Reps Sundin received training in all facets of cosmetic surgery such as burn surgery, breast cancer reconstruction, pediatric plastic surgery, facial trauma, and hand surgery.
In addition, he has also undergone extensive training in plastic surgery, specifically in the areas of abdominoplasty, body contouring, liposuction, breast augmentation and reduction, and facial rejuvenation.
Following his residency, Dr. Reps Sundin was chosen as an Aesthetic Surgery Fellow at the eminent Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in association with the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University Medical Center.
In this additional year of plastic surgery training, Dr. Sundin worked with luminaries in the area breast, nose, and face surgery. Among his mentors during this period are Dr. Sherrell Aston, Dr. Alan Matarasso, Dr. Jennifer Walden, Dr. Nicolas Tabbal, and Dr. Gerald Pittman, among others.
Dr. Reps Sundin had independent operating privileges as well as ran his own plastic surgery clinic during his fellowship. Furthermore, he participated in the education and training of plastic surgery residents at NYU.
Dr. Reps Sundin is a strong proponent of humanitarian causes and has been a part of various volunteer missions. He spent one month at the Albert Schweizer Hospital in Haiti before medical school.
In his final year of residency, Dr. Sundin was a part of a plastic surgery mission to the Dominican Republic with the group, Medical Aid for Children of Latin America. He intends to continue participating in volunteer work overseas.
The American Board of Plastic Surgery certified Dr. Reps Sundin. He provides a comfortable and friendly treatment experience and is devoted to all his patients.
